Odisha is a state situated in the east coast of India and is adjacent to Bay of Bengal is famous for its quintessential charm and historic backgrounds. Odisha is bounded by Andhra Pradesh in the south, Jharkhand and west Bengal in the north, Chhattisgarh in the west and Bay of Bengal in the east. Odisha constitutes about 4.74% of India’s land mass which is about 1, 55,707 sq. km. Odisha is the ninth largest state of India which is blessed with abundant natural beauty and resources. Previously Cuttack was the capital of Odisha. Later in 1948, Bhubaneswar was declared as the new capital of Odisha. It was known by various names in different periods like Kalinga, Utkal or Odradesha. The mauryan emperor Ashoka invaded Odisha in 261 BCE and since then it is famous for its art, culture, tradition and heritage. It is divided into five major areas that are the river valleys, the coastal plains, the hills and mountains, the rolling uplands and the plateaus. The coastal plains are rich in fertile alluvial soil which makes odisha the house for intensive rice cultivation. The interior parts of Odisha are hilly and forested which is inhabited by tribal people, who aggregates almost one-fourth of Odisha’s population.
